CEO Jitse Groen to leave Just Eat Takeaway.com

Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET) will start 2026 with someone new at the helm: on 1 January, Roberto Gandolfo will become its new CEO. The change is a result of Prosus acquiring JET earlier this year.

Owners take charge

Gandolfo is currently Chair of JET’s Supervisory Board and is also Head of Prosus Europe, the South-African tech investor that acquired JET in October with the aim of establishing a global delivery giant. It already owns Latin America’s largest delivery company iFood (which Gandolfo helped grow to its current size) and has an important stake in German Delivery Hero.

Fabricio Bloisi, who currently is Prosus’ CEO, will replace Gandolfo as Chair of the JET Supervisory Board. “Our focus is on execution and delivery for our customers and partners. We will move fast to transform JET through a focus on product, customer and innovation, creating a true European tech champion that will reshape the future of food delivery”, he added.

25 years in charge

Groen, who founded Takeaway.com (as Thuisbezorgd.nl) in 2000, will completely leave the company. He masterminded a stellar growth, which culminated in the merger with Just Eat in 2020. He said that he is “immensely proud of what our team has built, and I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has been part of this remarkable journey.”

JET is currently active in sixteen countries and served 653 million orders from 362,000 partners to sixty million consumers last year. It processed nineteen billion euros in gross merchandise value in 2024.

A new global food crisis looms: “worse than following the invasion of Ukraine”

The specter of a new food crisis looms over the global market—and the impact threatens to be even greater than that following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
