Food20 August, 2026

Royal Swinkels, known for brands such as Bavaria, Palm, and La Trappe, is launching a line of non-alcoholic canned wine under the name BarLoca. The Dutch family business aims to capitalize on declining beer consumption and the growing demand for non-alcoholic alternatives.

Expertise in Non-Alcoholic Beverages

“We aren’t winemakers, but we believe that with nearly fifty years of experience in non-alcoholic beverages, we can contribute to the further development of this category,” CEO Peer Swinkels told the Financieele Dagblad. Swinkels therefore doesn’t make the wine itself but has a producer from the Italian region of Puglia supply the base wine. The brewer then removes the alcohol via vacuum distillation and fills the cans.
