After Nestlé had to launch a massive global recall of contaminated infant formula, industry peers Danone and Lactalis have now also been affected, possibly because they used raw materials from the same supplier.
Vomiting and diarrhea
French dairy giant Lactalis has announced that it has recalled batches of infant formula in 18 countries, including France, China, Australia, and Mexico, because an ingredient from a supplier was found to contain cereulide, the same toxin that recently prompted Nestlé to launch the largest recall in the company’s history in nearly 60 countries worldwide. This substance can cause severe vomiting and diarrhea in babies. The Swiss multinational discovered the toxin during routine checks at the end of 2025. According to the manufacturer, approximately 800 Nestlé products from ten factories have been affected.
