Amazon and Monoprix will collaborate

Food27 March, 2018

Amazon will make a huge leap forward in France, thanks to a new collaboration with the French chain Monoprix. A large section of the latter’s product range will soon become available to Amazon Prime Now subscribers.

Major step

According to the new deal, Monoprix will get its own portal on Amazon France, where Prime Now subscribers will be able to shop. These orders will be delivered at home for free within the next two hours. If customers want those delivered within the hour, they will have to pay a 5.9 euro fee.

Amazon’s Monoprix product range will contain between 5,000 and 10,000 products and will only be available in Paris (for the time being). Monoprix will set the prices and the chain will also handle the orders from its own stores. Amazon will take care of the delivery. The new service should launch somewhere in the second half of the year.

This is a huge leap forward for Amazon in France, because it had been looking for an advantageous way to give its customers access to a varied food product range. It has similar deals with Dia in Spain and Morrisons in the United Kingdom.

Monoprix wants to expand its number of delivery options with the deal. The French company already ventured onto Amazon in 2013, when it used its web shop to showcase its own clothing product range.

Lower milk prices weigh on FrieslandCampina’s earnings

An imbalance in the dairy market is causing problems for FrieslandCampina: while the global milk supply was high, demand for basic dairy products lagged behind. This is putting pressure on prices, margins, and earnings.
