The Franco-Swiss businessman Dan Manane is the new owner of the French sports brand Le Coq Sportif. A commercial judge in Paris favuored his bid today over a bid from a French consortium.
Judoka floored
Manane’s bid defeated the rescue attempt by the founding Camuset family, parent company Airesis, businessman Xavier Niel, and judoka Teddy Riner, newspaper La Libre reports. The brand, which was given the honour to dress the host country at the Paris Olympics, was placed in receivership in November 2024.
The court’s choice does not come as a complete surprise: the consortium led by Niel complained last month that the curators favoured Manane’s bid and “systematically opposed” theirs. Their lawyers therefore wanted to redo the entire procedure, but that request was not followed.
