The French-Italian eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica, known for brands such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, and Persol, is restructuring its top management following a public conflict with the founder’s son. CEO Francesco Milleri is also taking this opportunity to better integrate the company’s growing tech operations, such as its smart glasses developed with Meta.
Clash with CEO
Leonardo Maria del Del Vecchio, until recently chief strategy officer and head of the iconic Ray-Ban brand, announced his departure last month after his attempt to gain more control over the family-owned holding company Delfin met with resistance. Delfin, based in Luxembourg, is EssilorLuxottica’s largest shareholder with a 32.4% stake.
