Alexandre Van Damme, a major AB InBev shareholder and one of Belgium’s richest pepole, has been tapped to become Warren Buffett’s replacement at the head of American food group Kraft Heinz.
“Very valuable”
Aged 87, Buffett has decided to step down from Kraft Heinz’ board. His term was up in April and Van Damme will become his successor. “We are very happy that we have been able to attract Alexandre’s expertise and insights to Kraft Heinz and we believe that his experience as a manager and a leader will prove to be very valuable to our board, our leadership and the company as a whole”, Kraft Heinz told Belgian tv station, VRT.
Despite his stake in several major companies, Alexandre Van Damme is not that well-known. He despises public attention and never grants the media an interview. He is a shareholder at football club Anderlecht, which was recently sold to another wealthy Belgian, Marc Coucke.
