Food11 June, 2013

Almost 20
million euro

In 2012
Angela Ahrendts (53), head of Burberry since 2006, earned 16.9 million pound,
about 20 million euro
. That was almost 6 million euro more than the number two on the list, government group Manifest and consultancy bureau MM&K found out as they did the
math on the wages of 350 British top managers. It is the first time a woman has
been named best paid CEO of Great Britain.

It was
Ahrendts who revived the British icon for a massive comeback: she made Burberry
connect to the digital world and social media and launched a line of accessories
as well as make-up. According to Burberry Ahrendts has caused “record sales and profit”
and the share of the company rose by 186% over the past five years. Despite a
profit warning last year Burberry performed strongly in 2012.

Number two
on the list, behind Ahrendts, is the former CEO of Shire Pharmaceuticals, Angus
Russell. The bronze medal was shared between two CEO’s: Graham Mackay of
SABMiller and Paul Walsh of Diageo.

Belgian brewers launch a campaign against stricter advertising rules

    Shrinkflation still prevalent in supermarkets

"Shrinkflation" is less common than it was a few years ago, but manufacturers continue to reduce package sizes without lowering prices accordingly. The Dutch Consumers' Association found dozens of examples again last year and is calling on policymakers to implement stricter regulations.
