Sligro has reopened its flagship store in Antwerp North in a significantly smaller space, with a new layout, new shelving, and updated lighting. This allows professionals to shop more quickly, says the foodservice wholesaler.
“In and out faster”
After two months of renovations—during which the store remained open the entire time—Sligro was able to reopen its renovated store in Antwerp North on Tuesday. What stands out is that the store has a more compact layout, covering approximately 6,500 m². That’s a significant reduction: when the Dutch foodservice wholesaler opened its Belgian flagship store here in 2018—after a series of permit disputes—it covered an area of as much as 16,000 m².
In the renovated store, customers now follow a new, logical flow path. The product groups are organized more clearly and showcased more effectively. The new shelving and lighting are tailored to these flow paths. “For a food professional, time is money. With a clear flow path and a better overview, they can get in and out faster, with everything they need,” says branch manager Marco Claes.
There will also be a 1,600-square-meter multipurpose inspiration space on the first floor, with a view of the Havenhuis. The space will be used for a variety of purposes to inspire customers, suppliers, and employees. Sligro Antwerp North welcomes more than 3,000 unique customers per month. During the busy end-of-year period, this number can double.
