Ahold Delhaize has no indication that customer or business data was stolen in the cybersecurity incident the retailer has been facing since Sunday afternoon. Systems are now being restarted in a controlled manner.
“Progress made”
There is still a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the IT incident that affected Ahold Delhaize on Sunday afternoon. The retailer has not confirmed whether it was a cyberattack: the investigation is still ongoing, the company says. Many observers argue that this may well be the case and have criticized the lack of communication.
However, the retailer did state on Tuesday afternoon that there are currently no indications that customer or company data was stolen during the incident. Ahold Delhaize says it is working on a solution. Progress has been made, allowing for a controlled restart of certain systems to begin.
At Albert Heijn in the Netherlands, the website is still down (this also applies to sister chains Etos and Gall & Gall), so customers are unable to place online orders. The app is also temporarily unavailable. The electronic price tags in the stores display the correct prices but do not yet show the Bonus offers.
At Delhaize in Belgium, customer service is available again. The website is working, online orders are possible with a limited number of time slots, and stores are being restocked based on previous orders.
