JYSK ends its franchise operations in Kosovo, Albania, and North Macedonia. The Danish home furnishings chain is taking over 25 stores and the local organizations in those countries to expand more quickly under its own management.
Greater control over growth
JYSK has reached an agreement with franchise partner Fatmir Zymberi regarding the acquisition of all operations in the three countries. Subject to regulatory approval, the deal will take effect on January 1, 2027. Specifically, this involves twelve stores in Kosovo, six in Albania, and seven in North Macedonia. JYSK has been active in Kosovo since 2004, followed by North Macedonia in 2008 and Albania in 2015.
The acquisition gives JYSK direct control over investments, store development, and expansion. The chain plans to open new stores in these three markets and further strengthen its position. “We believe there is significant potential to further grow the JYSK brand by integrating these countries into our own organization, where we will invest directly in further expansion, our stores, and our employees,” says CEO Rami Jensen.
According to Jensen, the three franchise markets have already laid a solid foundation. “Kosovo, Albania, and North Macedonia have been successful JYSK markets, and I would like to thank our franchise partner Fatmir Zymberi and all employees for bringing customers attractive offers for Scandinavian-style sleep and living.” For customers, little will change for the time being: the stores will remain open as usual during the transition.
