Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany becomes a Foodmaker ambassador

Foodmaker, the Belgian producer of healthy, fresh meals, is entering into a partnership with Vincent Kompany. The FC Bayern Munich coach will serve as a brand ambassador, as the company has ambitious growth plans in Europe.

Germany as a growth market

Specifically, Foodmaker and Vincent Kompany are entering into a mutual partnership: Foodmaker will become the main sponsor of BX Brussels, the football club that the former Red Devil founded in 2013 as a social project, and Kompany will serve as the brand’s ambassador. The coach’s international reputation will further support Foodmaker’s global ambitions.

The Belgian company’s meals are already available at Delhaize in Belgium and Luxembourg, Jumbo in the Netherlands, Monoprix and Franprix in France, Billa in Austria, and REWE in Germany. In addition, Foodmaker operates 23 company-owned cafés, including two in Paris. The company also plans to further expand this network internationally, with Germany as one of the potential future growth markets. Today, Foodmaker produces up to 150,000 fresh meals daily in its own kitchens, with the capacity to scale up to 300,000.

European rollout

“Foodmaker makes it possible for everyone to eat healthy without it having to take a lot of time or cost a fortune. We now want to roll out that idea on a large scale throughout Europe, starting in Germany, where Foodmaker has built an excellent reputation in recent years,” says Vincent Kompany.

Since its early days, Foodmaker has collaborated with top athletes and teams, including Kim Clijsters, Tia Hellebaut, Tom Boonen, Kjeld Nuis, Club Brugge, RSC Anderlecht, and the Alpecin-Premier Tech cycling team featuring Mathieu van der Poel. Founder Lieven Vanlommel wants to make healthy food as accessible and convenient as fast food. He recently published his vision in the book “Zonder Filter” and will also share his story as a speaker at RetailDetail Night on November 19 in Brussels. Dutch people spend 2.1 billion euros a year on groceries in Germany and Belgium

More and more Dutch people are shopping across the border—especially in Germany, but also in Belgium. The food industry fears that if the Dutch government introduces a sugar tax, this trend will only gain momentum, since price is the main driver of cross-border shopping.
