“Strong, consistent growth figures show that Flemish consumers are embracing the Jumbo concept,” says Anrico Maat, Director for Belgium. Entrepreneurs also see the potential. Now we just need to secure a few more permits: “I think it’s all too easy to file an objection in Belgium.”

Wearing two hats

Jumbo’s strong half-year results also show positive figures for Belgium, where a new captain has been at the helm since this spring. Time for an introduction: “You haven’t heard much from me over the past six months, but that’s just fine: I’m all about servant leadership,” says 53-year-old Anrico Maat, who took over from Peter Isaac as Jumbo’s Director for Belgium at the end of March.
