In November of this year, Delhaize will open a new, large supermarket on the site of the former Makro in Eke. This brings the total number of store openings for the food retailer in 2026 to 12.
Exceptional expansion plan
Through LCV Real Estate, Delhaize is leasing a retail space with a sales area of approximately 2,150 m² in a section of the former Makro site in Eke. The opening is scheduled for November 2026. The search for a suitable operator to manage the supermarket has begun: the name will be announced in September, along with the posting of job openings for the new store.
This is, after Delhaize Machelen, the second Delhaize store to open on a former Makro site. The supermarket chain is undergoing an exceptional expansion. Earlier this year, the retailer opened new supermarkets at seven former Cora locations, among others. With the opening in Eke, the total now stands at 12 openings in 2026, the company reports.
