Carrefour is trying again in India

Carrefour India / Apparel Group

Nearly 12 years after exiting India, Carrefour has opened a store in the New Delhi area in partnership with a local franchise partner. Initially, the retailer aims to open 50 stores in northern India.

Second attempt

Through a strategic franchise partnership with the Dubai-based Apparel Group, Carrefour opened a hypermarket spanning approximately 4,600 m² in Greater Noida West, east of New Delhi, on August 14. This marks a return for the French retailer, which withdrew from India in 2014 after operating five cash-and-carry stores there.

    Colruyt harvests over 100 tonnes of Belgian mussels

    Colruyt Group wrapped up the Belgian mussel season with a harvest of more than 100 metric tons. The retailer now plans to further localize the supply chain and, starting next season, also handle processing and packaging in Nieuwpoort.
