Cyberattack disrupts orders at De Bijenkorf and Ace & Tate

Customers are now barely able to place orders on De Bijenkorf’s online store as a result of the previously reported cyberattack on a logistics partner. At Ace & Tate, eyeglass frames can only be picked up in-store.

“Sold out online”

On Monday, De Bijenkorf reported that the online store would remain open as usual, but that orders would not be delivered until September 4. Today, it appears that ordering is no longer possible in most cases: for the majority of products, shoppers see a message stating that the item is sold out online. It turns out that only products in stock at physical stores can still be ordered online.

The difficulties stem from a cyberattack on logistics provider CEVA Logistics, during which customers’ personal information was also stolen—though no sensitive data such as passwords or financial information was compromised. Other businesses affected by the hack include the online retailer Bol and the eyewear chain Ace & Tate. At Ace & Tate, eyeglass frames are only available for in-store pickup. Contact lenses, however, are being shipped as usual. Bol has not reported any delivery disruptions.
