Haacht Brewery has been in the red for years, so the producer of Primus, Tongerlo, Ommegang, and other beers is trying to restructure its balance sheet. By writing off accumulated losses of €16.6 million, the brewery hopes to present a healthier financial structure.

In 2023, Haacht Brewery closed with a net loss of €10.1 million. In 2024, that loss rose further to €16.5 million. The company could not afford a repeat of this: another year like that would have pushed its equity below zero, reports Belgian newspaper HLN. However, the half-yearly results of parent company Co.Br.Ha. again point to a loss: in the first six months of 2025, the consolidated result fell 1.5 million euros below zero. Although this was an improvement on the loss of 2.2 million euros a year earlier.
