On 5 January, Martijn Akkermans will join Dutch non-food discounter Wibra as commercial director. He will join the management team and will be responsible for sales and marketing.
20 years of experience
In a press release, the non-food discounter praises Akkermans’ twenty years of experience in sales and marketing. He previously worked for brands such as Beter Bed, Charles Vögele, Kwantum and Scapino. CEO Bas Duijsens sees it this way: “We are looking forward to Martijn’s arrival. He is driven by results and customer focus, and combines strategic insight with operational strength to achieve commercial growth and brand reinforcement.”
Akkermans succeeds Wim Smit as CCO: Smit will remain with Wibra, but will take on an advisory role. Duijsens is “grateful to Wim for his many years of dedication and the important contribution he has made to the commercial development of Wibra. We are delighted that he will remain closely involved with our organization in his new advisory role.”
As of 5 January, the Wibra management team consists of Duijsens, Akkermans and his predecessor Smit, as well as procurement director Jeroen Markink, HR director Sjoerd Verlegh and (since August) COO Rogier Wijnhoven.
