The British Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) considers the planned acquisition of Délifrance by Vandemoortele to be detrimental to free competition, and gives both companies precisely one week to provide more guarantees.

Vandemoortele and Délifrance are both strong players in the frozen bakery products sector and saw the potential of a merger/acquisition to gain scale together. However, the British CMA now fears that the two together would become too big, especially in the specific segment of frozen laminated dough.
