Leen Bakker Belgium bankrupt: stores will close, online shop remains open

On Wednesday, the Antwerp court declared Leen Bakker Belgium bankrupt. As a result, the remaining 29 of a total of 43 branches will close their doors permanently.

250 jobs lost

Last week, the company announced that 14 store locations had been taken over by other retailers, including Swiss Sense, Dreamland, and Dreambaby. The receiver will decide in the near future whether or not the 29 other branches will remain open temporarily, the company now reports in a press release. The bankruptcy ruling means that 250 employees will lose their jobs. A small number of employees will be hired by Kwantum Belgium. Leen Bakker Belgium’s webshop will remain active, so customers can still shop online.
