Walmart performed strongly in the third quarter: the world’s largest retailer is benefiting from an influx of customers from all income brackets and has raised its outlook for the second quarter in a row.
Sales jump
Sales rose to 179.50 billion dollars (165 billion euros) in the third quarter. In he United States, Walmart’s comparable sales increased by 4.5 % (excluding fuel). Sam’s Club grew by 3.8 %. E-commerce sales rose by 27 % globally, and by 28 % in the US. Adjusted earnings per share came in at 0.62 dollars (0.57 euros).
