German supermarket group Edeka is once again at odds with a major supplier. This time, the retailer is clashing with AB InBev over planned price increases for beer brands such as Beck’s, Corona, and Franziskaner.
Edeka refuses price increases
According to an Edeka spokesperson, AB InBev is demanding “a drastic price increase of several million euros,” which the supermarket chain believes cannot be justified by increased production costs. “The requested price increases are not based on actual cost developments,” the spokesperson emphasized to Lebensmittelzeitung.
