Fifth generation strengthens grip on Omoda

Dutch fashion chain Omoda completes a generational change: Wilhelm Verton transfers his shares to the fifth generation of the family business and leaves the board of directors. The transfer coincides with Omoda’s 150th anniversary.

Anniversary and continuity

The shares are transferred to CEO Jan Baan, creative director Marlinde Baan-Verton, and buying director Lourus-Jan Verton. They have already been shareholders in the company, which was founded in 1875, since 2021.

Wilhelm Verton will remain part of the management for a few more weeks, after which he will move to a (newly established) advisory board. In a press release, he calls this “the right moment” for the transfer.

The outgoing director joined the family business in 1994 and was the driving force behind three expansions: into Belgium (with a store in Antwerp since 2013), into online sales, and into general fashion. Previously, the company only sold shoes in a few stores in the south of the Netherlands.
