A small milestone for Prego!, the chain of Italian catering shops: on Wednesday, the tenth Belgian branch will open in the Wijnegem Shopping Centre. Four more openings are planned for this autumn, after which the chain will set its sights on foreign markets.
Hybrid concept
On 27 August, Prego! opened a new shop in Waterloo, to be followed on 3 September by number ten in Belgium’s busiest shopping centre, an absolute prime location. The chain was already present in Brussels (Stockel, Flagey), Louvain-la-Neuve, Liège, Bierges, Charleroi and Sint-Niklaas. In October, new shops will open in the shopping centres of Nivelles and Tournai, plus two Carrefour corners.
In 2026, the chain is aiming for as many as eighteen additional openings, not only in Belgium but also with its first steps towards France and Luxembourg, where the first test projects are already planned. Prego!’s hybrid concept, between a traditional restaurant and a classic caterer, is appealing to consumers, investors and retailers who are following new consumption trends, says co-founder and CEO Julie Vandenbrande, who is continuing to expand the chain with Constantin Tramini as a new active shareholder and managing director at her side.
