Keurig Dr Pepper is acquiring coffee group JDE Peet’s for 15.7 billion euros. The merged company will then be split again into a North American soft drink player and a global coffee company.
Two new companies
The acquisition, which should be completed in the first half of 2026, will be immediately followed by a spin-off of the coffee business, effectively ending the merger between Keurig and Dr Pepper after less than a decade. Coffee capsule brand Keurig will then join JDE Peet’s (with brands such as Jacobs, L’OR and Peet’s) to create a coffee giant with annual sales of fourteen billion euros and operations in more than 100 countries.
