French food retailers Carrefour and Coopérative U are joining forces in the new European purchase alliance Concordis. They are doing so three years after a previous partnership between the two groups ended.
In talks with additional retailers
The purchase alliance, headquartered in Brussels, will start negotiations for 2026 and will initially run for six years, the two companies said in a press release on Monday evening. Carrefour and Coopérative U are already in talks with other European retailers to expand the partnership. Concordis will rely on Carrefour’s existing international buying structures, namely Eureca (based in Madrid) for net price negotiations and CWT (Carrefour World Trade, based in Geneva) for so-called “on top” negotiations.
