For the past 3 years, Danish and Norwegian Ikea customers have already been able to return items they have owned for years and that is exactly why the furniture store chain does not fear abuse.

“We believe it might happen a few times that customers will exchange their entire collection of online or store-bought furniture for new items in a few years’ time”, an Ikea spokesperson told Twinkle. An exception to the rule are plants, custom-fitted products and items from the bargain corner.

Other countries still have the 90-day return policy in place, with a 14-day return policy for online purchases. Every country can decide whether they want to introduce the new system.
