Apple and Samsung (almost) bury hatchet

First approach

The agreement means that court cases in 8 countries have now come to an end: Australia, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Netherlands, Great Britain, France and Italy. The fight is not over in the United States however, but it is the first approach between both companies in a long time.

 

American Apple has cases against South Korean Samsung as it feels it has stolen several iPhone features for its Samsung Galaxy line. Samsung has similar complaints, as it feels Apple has used several of its technologies without prior approval.

Both companies have rarely succeeded in getting their way, which is why court cases in several countries have dragged out. Several judges had previously stated that it would be in both parties’ interests to come to a mutual agreement.

    Chinese retail giant JD.com, which is preparing to acquire MediaMarkt in Europe, is facing its first quarterly decline in revenue in more than a decade. Nevertheless, the company expects sales of home appliances to pick up again in the second half of the year.
