De Gele Flamingo launches English-language webshop

De Gele Flamingo, a Belgian online retailer specialised in baby and children’s items, has launched an English-language webshop to accelerate its international growth. The company hopes to achieve a 400 % turnover growth in five years’ time.

Worldwide demand

De Gele Flamingo wants to break through internationally and deemed an English-language webshop necessary for this, as demand was starting to come from places as far away as Australia, China and Kuwait. “That is why we felt the need to internationalise our webshop and shipment, so that these customers also have an optimal shopping experience and orders reach them quickly,” founder Sophie Claes explains. Last year, the company already implemented a new warehouse management system, which makes scaling up very easy when demand increases. “As a result, we are completely ready to take this step now.”

Last year, De Gele Flamingo realised a turnover of five million euros, but the company hopes to reach 25 million by 2026. Last summer, the company opened its first physical store. And although the company already started using a larger warehouse this year, a move to an even larger distribution centre will follow in 2023. “I believe you should always have ambition and chase big dreams”, Claes explains her drive. “That way I hope to grow into the ‘Coolblue’ of the baby, children and lifestyle world in Belgium and far beyond.”
