Beter Bed Holding is selling its Swedish activities, known under the name Sängjätten, to the Lars Larsen Group, which also owns Jysk. The sleep specialist wants to focus on the Benelux and is simplifying its management structure.
Focus on Benelux
Sängjätten has 16 stores and achieved a turnover of 14.6 million euros last year. Lars Larsen Group will take over all the branches and the employees. Lars Larsen Group is owned by the Brunsborg family, which has family ties with Jysk founder Lars Larsen. The group owns companies in various sectors, including furniture, golf cars, restaurants and hotels, and is also an active investor in equities, funds and real estate. The aim is to complete the deal by the end of June. Financial details were not disclosed.
The divestment fits in with Beter Bed’s new strategy to present itself as a “Benelux player with a global wholesale division”. The management structure will also be aligned with this new organisation. There will be fewer layers whereby the statutory directors (CEO and CFO) will form one group management team together with the directors of the current Benelux and DBC management team. As a result, the current divisional management teams will disappear. Ronald Voogt, currently general manager Benelux, will also leave the sleep specialist as of June 30.
“We believe this new management structure will enable us to increase our strategic focus further, create synergies within the business units, reduce overhead costs and speed up the decision-making process,” said CEO John Kruijssen.
