Double-digit growth for Vente-Unique

Home24 July, 2019

Online furniture discounter Vente-Unique saw its turnover rise by 10% in the past quarter. The ‘flash sales’ company especially grew beyond its domestic market of France.

Almost half abroad

In the third quarter, which ran from April to the end of June for Vente-Unique, the online discounter increased its turnover by 10%. Reaching a total of 22.1 million euros, the past three months put the French company well on their way towards achieving their expectations for the year.

Outside of the French domestic market, Vente-Unique recorded particularly strong growth: in Southern Europe, turnover increased by 22%, in Northern and Eastern Europe (including Belgium and the Netherlands) sales went up by 23%. Foreign sale represent 42% of the total, whereas a year ago, that figure was only 38%.

150 million euros by 2022

In France, the online discounter is having a lot more difficulty: turnover only increased by 2%. Vente-Unique blames the yellow vest protests for that. The opening of a renewed, bigger distribution centre in Amblainville should help to achieve higher logistical capacity (from 27,000 to 51,000 sqm) and more efficient processes.

The extended warehouse should help Vente-Unique to gain back its historical growth average of 12%, said general director Sacha Vigna in Bourse Direct. By 2022, the online retailer hopes to achieve a turnover of 150 million euros.

Across the past nine months, Vente-Unique generated a turnover of 71.3 million euros, which means 10% growth. For the full financial year, Vigna confirms his prognosis of achieving a turnover of at least 95 million euros, which comes down to double-digit growth. In the process, the retailer intends to retain “examplary” profitability.
