Rising costs means profit drop for Decathlon, despite growing sales

Decathlon continues to grow in terms of sales, but rising costs meant a sharp drop in profits. The French sports retailer continues to invest in international expansion and in an updated store concept.

Cost control “a priority”

Decathlon managed to raise its turnover by 5.2 % to 16.2 billion euros in 2024, but at the same time net profit fell 15 % to 787 million euros. The retailer was faced with rising costs, but still tried to keep prices affordable for consumers. Cost control remains a “major priority” this year, the company stresses in a press release.
