In its new concept, Bongo shops are no longer ordinary sales outlets. Rather, they are “gift studios”, where customers are guided in six steps to the appropriate gift, which they can then package themselves.
Experience and technology
Shops in two Belgian shopping centers reopened on 4 June after a complete makeover. The “My Bongo” concept fully focuses on experience and technology to turn every purchase into a “meaningful moment”. “With a Bongo, you give more than a gift: you give the chance to take a moment, make memories together and really experience something”, is the reasoning.
Interactive kiosks and store employees help customers choose the right gift, tailored to the recipient. In six simple steps – from “who is the gift for?” to “which experience fits best?” – the kiosk guides shoppers to an appropriate selection. The eye-catcher of the new shops is the ‘Wrapping Bar’, where customers can transform their gift into a small work of art, with paper, ribbons, stickers, name tags and handwritten messages.
“With this new shopping experience, we want to bring a breath of fresh air to the category”, General Manager Kevin Terlaeken explained. “We create a place where shoppers feel helped and inspired, and where they find something unique that they do not get online or elsewhere: personal advice, creative experience and real connection. This is how we make giving something special again.”
