For the first time since the acquisition of DreamLand by Belgian toy chain ToyChamp, both companies have published consolidated results. Both chains, as well as Intertoys in the Netherlands, performing strongly.
“Extremely satisfied”
The ToyChamp & DreamLand group achieved 326.8 million euros, an EBITDA of 21.8 million and a profit before taxes of 17.3 million for their latest financial year. ToyChamp adheres to normal calendar years, but due to the merger, DreamLand had an extended financial year from October 2023 to December 2024. Intertoys achieved a 218.7 million euros in sales, an EBITDA of 11.6 million and profit before taxes of 7.7 million in its financial year 2024 (from February 2024 to January 2025). Starting from the current financial year, all companies will close their financial year on 31 December.
“We are extremely satisfied with these results”, Nolmans said. “In total, our group achieved a revenue of over half a billion euros and an EBITDA of over 33 million. The promise that DreamLand would turn a profit within the year has been fulfilled, which gives confidence for the future.” In the Netherlands, Intertoys has exceeded the set goals, the CEO added.
New organisational structure
After ToyChamp acquired three-quarters of the shares of DreamLand from Colruyt Group in October 2023, the retailer grew to ninety stores in Belgium and the Netherlands – partly owing to the integration of twelve stores from the bankrupt FUN chain. The expansion drive of the Nolmans family also led to the acquisition of Intertoys in the Netherlands in November 2024. In April of this year, the group announced that ToyChamp and DreamLand will continue under the name DreamLand in both the Netherlands and Belgium, starting next month. Intertoys will remain a separate chain.
In anticipation of this chain merger, both chains will start working together more closely. A close collaboration between the ToyChamp and DreamLand teams is expected to increase efficiency. ToyChamp implemented a completely new IT infrastructure in April, which DreamLand will also start using from next month.
