Decathlon sets its sights on Sport 2000

Decathlon plans to acquire a 50% stake in the French retail chain Sport 2000 to strengthen its position in rural areas and ski resorts. If the deal is approved, it will mean further consolidation in the French sporting goods market.

Strategic partnership

Decathlon has signed a letter of intent to acquire 50% of Sport 2000 France, owned by the Céraclès Coopérative group. The announcement refers to a strategic partnership under which the Sport 2000 stores will continue to operate independently after the transaction: the stake will pertain solely to the central office, which is responsible for purchasing, product assortment, logistics, and marketing.
