Bax Music has reopened three stores today, with the webshop reopening on Wednesday. The store in Antwerp may follow next month, the fate of the store in Rotterdam is still uncertain.
Rotterdam still uncertain
The restart of bankrupt Bax Music is now a fact: the stores in Amsterdam, Apeldoorn and Goes have reopened since this afternoon, the retailer told local broadcaster Omroep Zeeland. From Wednesday, customers can again place orders via the webshop. The store in Antwerp is likely to reopen in June, but the fate of the shop in Rotterdam is uncertain, as Bax is still negotiating with the landlord.
The music chain – one of the larger European players in its segment – went bankrupt in April due to high debts. Former director Jochanan Bax, who had previously been kicked out by his brother and father-in-law, recently took over the company with the backing of investor Stijn Bakkeren.
