Ikea ambassador
Carlzon joined Ikea 43 years ago and he has been the CEO for the past 9 years, but will step down on 31 August 2015. A successor has not yet been appointed. Carlzon has mentioned he will remain active within Ikea.
The news has only been spread internally, but Carlzon has also confirmed the news to Swedish paper Smålandposten: “I will be 60 next year and we have a clear plan laid out for Ikea AB until 2017. I think it therefore makes sense to step down in favour of another CEO”, he said.
