Furniture store DFS comes to the Netherlands

“Most practical destinations”

According to CEO Ian Filby, the Netherlands were an obvious practical choice as the first step of its international expansion. Its vicinity means it will be easy to supply the Dutch stores, possibly even easier than some of its Irish and Scottish stores. Aside from that, he believes there is not a single market-controlling entity in the Dutch market.

DFS is also considering other markets through franchise agreements, even though it refuses to divulge the extent of its international expansion.

The gross turnover in the second part of DFS’s fiscal year grew 6.6 % and despite a difficult first half, its full-year gross turnover grew from 804.3 million pounds (1.02 billion euro) to 827 million pounds (1.05 billion euro).
