With exceptional growth figures, e-commerce giant JD.com is demonstrating its blood form. The Chinese company, which will soon take MediaMarkt under its wing, performed particularly strongly in markets such as food, grooming and electrical.
Double-digit growth
JD.com’s total sales reached 356.7 billion Chinese yuan (about 49.8 billion euros) in the second quarter, up 22.4% compared to last year. With this, the company not only exceeded expectations, but also achieved the highest annual growth rate in the past three years. Within the core business, electronics and household appliances recorded sales growth of 23.4%, general goods increased by 16.4%. The supermarket division showed double-digit year-on-year growth for the sixth consecutive quarter. Service sales also rose solidly by 29.1%.
