Amazon to invest 1.4 billion in the Netherlands

General27 October, 2025

Over the next three years, Amazon plans to invest more than 1.4 billion euros in its Dutch operations. Earlier this month, the company also announced a billion-euro investment in Belgium. The online retailer is not the market leader in either country.

“Supporting entrepreneurs”

According to Amazon, the investment is the largest financial commitment to the Netherlands since its launch in 2020. The money will support both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and retail operations and should help local sales partners expand their reach to customers in the Netherlands and internationally. Country manager Eva Faict announced the investment plans during a conference in The Hague to mark Amazon’s fifth anniversary in the Netherlands.

“More than 60% of all products sold on Amazon.nl now come from our sales partners, and we are seeing more and more Dutch entrepreneurs successfully growing their businesses and reaching customers in the Netherlands and worldwide. We not only offer entrepreneurs a sales channel, but also support them with logistics solutions, marketing tools, and export opportunities,” she said in a press release.

A few weeks ago, Amazon also announced a 1 billion euros investment in Belgium, intended to enable faster delivery and improve services to Belgian sales partners. According to the German data agency ECDB, Belgium and the Netherlands are the only Western European countries where Amazon is not the market leader, writes the FD. With a turnover of 3.1 billion euros in 2024, Bol still has a big lead.
