Stan Monheim is stepping down as Exki CEO, after a year and a half at the head of the Belgian restaurant chain. The chain would not yet disclose the name of its new CEO, who should take office before the New Year.

Transformation period

In the 18 months during which Monheim was CEO, the chain consolidated its organisation and strengthened its financial structure. A renewed brand identity is also in place, the chain of 72 restaurants in five European countries (Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands) says in a press release.

The company says that during “an intense period of transformation”, Monheim put the company back on solid foundations. Last year, the chain’s survival was hanging by a thread: at the time, Monheim said it urgently needed ten million euros in fresh capital. In January, the chain was able to announce that it had even found fifteen million euros.

In the same press release, Exki also welcomed a new Chief Operations Officer: Pierre Toutel. He brings with him more than a quarter century of experience in the food sector, including with restaurant chain Autogrill – just like his predecessor Monheim, incidentally. In particular, his expertise in franchising and travel retail is welcome, Exki adds.
