eBay mirrors at Rebecca Minkoff

Food1 December, 2014

Also offline

Customers can also scroll through the collections and if they see something they would like to try, then all they have to do is leave their phone number. As soon as the item is available for fitting, the customer will get a message.

eBay’s mirrors are a way for the online retailer to create a presence offline. To do so, it is no surprise eBay has entered a collaboration with Rebecca Minkoff, a brand that was founded as a pure online player. “People still want to use their five senses, not just the one sense you use when you’re doing e-commerce,” says Steve Yankovich, eBay’s head of innovation and new ventures. “So physical retail, a showroom, I think will never go away.”

Rebecca Minkoff’s stores will get even more technical novelties: customers will get recognized when they use Rebecca Minkoff’s app and cameras will track customers, which will allow the chain to tweak its store’s design if necessary.
