The Belgian Competition Authority has approved Colruyt Group‘s acquisition of meal shop chain Delitraiteur from the Louis Delhaize Group.
Convenience
On 23 October, Colruyt Group announced its intention to acquire Delitraiteur. The retailer has now been given the green light for this: “In its decision of 14 May 2025, the BMA (Belgian Competition Authority, ed.) finds that the conditions for the application of the simplified procedure have been met and that the notified concentration does not give rise to any objections”, the regulator said in a press release.
With the acquisition, Colruyt Group wants to further focus on a convenience offering: Delitraiteur offers more than 200 freshly prepared dishes, salads and sandwiches that can be taken away or consumed on the spot. Founded in 1990, the chain has forty shops in Belgium and one in Luxembourg. All but three stores are operated by independent entrepreneurs.
