Colruyt continues to open French stores, despite possible spin-off

While Colruyt Group is “looking at all strategic options” for its loss-making French activities, the retailer is sticking to its expansion plans: it recently opened its 104th store in the country, with more openings still on the agenda.

Last week, Colruyt opened its 104th French supermarket in Châtenoy-le-Royal (in the Saône-et-Loire), with a 105th opening already planned for September, trade journal Linéaires reports. The stores are opening in an uncertain context: at the beginning of this month, and after persistent rumours, the retailer confirmed that a possible sale of the French activities is on the table.
