With the launch of the SnackBox, a new cardboard packaging for crisps and snacks, PepsiCo says it wants to become more sustainable. However, customer organisations accuse the manufacturer of greenwashing and shrinkflation, and retailers refuse to play ball.
Substantially more expensive
PepsiCo has recently launched the SnackBox, a resealable, rectangular cardboard packaging, in Dutch supermarkets for snacks under the Lay’s and Doritos branding. The manufacturer claims the new packaging is easy to share (“your hand fits in it”), convenient on the go, and easy to recycle. However, an uproar soon arose on social media because the snacks in the new packaging are significantly more expensive.
