Claire’s is looking for a buyer, for a part or for the entire company. The pressure from U.S. import tariffs and increasing competition is forcing the accessory chain to take this step.
Pressure from online competition
According to Bloomberg, the American jewelry and accessory chain is worried about impending import tariffs, on top of the precarious situation the retailer is already in. As a brand that primarily targets young people with inexpensive accessories, Claire’s is increasingly struggling with online competition from Temu, Shein, and also Amazon. The chain also needs to adapt to the new generations Z and Alpha.
