Birkenstock is raising its forecast following a 13% increase in revenue. The sandal manufacturer owes this primarily to its own retail network, which now comprises 124 stores. However, import duties and currency effects are putting pressure on margins and net income.
US remains largest market
Birkenstock grew in all regions last quarter, both through wholesale and its own retail channels, although the latter performed slightly better. Direct sales to consumers rose by 14% to 277.7 million euros, while sales to business partners increased by 13% to 441.7 million euros. During this period, the brand opened thirteen company-owned stores and had 124 locations worldwide as of the end of June.
