The Phone House shuts down 50 Dutch stores

More shop-in-shops

Currently, The Phone House has some 160 Dutch stores and because of weaker results in this fiscal year’s first quarter, nearly a third will close, although it is not clear which stores will survive.

The Phone House will continue its collaborations with Media Markt and De Bijenkorf. An increased amount of shop-in-shops means that in the end the company will only have 5 stores less than its current number, even after the restructuring.

“We will be able to balance the offline and online shopping experience more through these changes. We regret that this included store closures and the loss of work, but it is a logical consequence of the changes. We need clear focus and efficiency to be able to offer an optimal customer experience”, director Erik-Jan Doorenbosch told Tweakers.
