Ceconomy (MediaMarkt, Saturn) has appointed Kai-Ulrich Deissner as its new CEO and Remko Rijnders as its new CFO. Both jobs are “temporary”, after previous CEO Karsten Wildberger chose to leave Ceconomy for a job in the new German government.
Looking for stability
Days after Wildberger officially left Ceconomy to become Germany’s new Digital Minister, the German electronics giant has appointed Deissner as its new CEO. He will take on the job on a temporary basis, while the Supervisory Board has “initiated a structured search process for a long-term successor”, the company stated in a press release. Since February 2023, Deissner had been the company’s CFO.
Meanwhile, Rijnders has agreed to succeed Deissner as CFO on a temporary basis. In January 2023, Rijnders became MediaMarkt’s COO for seven countries: the BeNeLux, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Turkey. Both appointments are meant to ensure continuity, as the search for a definitive successor for Wildberger gets underway. “Until the search process has been finalised, the interim management will continue to pursue the Group’s strategic direction”, the press release adds.
