Adidas Terrex, the outdoor division of the German sports brand, opened its first European flagship store in Munich late last week. The store places a strong emphasis on sustainability and aims to be the go-to place for the local outdoor community.

“Most sustainable shop ever”

On a sales area of 370 m², the retailer offers access to the full product range of Adidas Terrex. The store was created in close cooperation with Terrex athletes and offers product ranges in the hiking and mountaineering categories, as well as equipment for trail running, mountain biking and winter sports.

According to the company, the main focus of the store, which is located in the city centre of Munich on Sendlinger Straße, is on sustainability, digitalisation and community. The sustainable shop design with resource-saving and recyclable materials, combined with digital innovations including an interactive shoe wall, should lay the foundation for an unparalleled customer experience. Adidas itself speaks of its “most sustainable shop to date.”

The intention is for the new shop to also act as a meeting place for the local outdoor community. Events, workshops or lectures will take place every Thursday evening, both inside and outside the shop.

Nike meets expectations, but the challenges remain

Nike's quarterly results were better than expected. But there isn't much cause for celebration: revenue remained stable for the full fiscal year, and the sports group does not expect any improvement for the time being. Meanwhile, some 320 Belgian employees officially received their layoff notices.
